When I and my then to be house mates where first shown around the house we would be spending the next four months living together in, it then sunk in when walking out onto the balcony from my new bedroom that I was a long way from home when seeing through the tree an outline of the snow-capped alpine mountains. My work experience placement was with an estate agency who made me feel very welcome and supported in and out of work. This could be said for basically everyone I met in Italy who were all really friendly and open to meeting a socializing with new people. They would always go to great lengths in their spare time to show us around bars, restaurants, tourist attractions, local festivals etc, not to mention they were always really hospitable when inviting you into their homes for food, drink and entertainment. My job placement gave me the opportunity view beautiful houses and locations around Abruzzo while meeting a range of different people and gaining valuable experience that will help in future job roles. I feel I have really gained a lot from the project, though it is overused it is true what they say about travel broadening the mind. I have learnt so much about who I am and have gained so much confidence in myself, what I have experienced from Italian culture I will take away with me and keep for the rest of my life.
